University of the Third Age 
Armidale Inc.


U3A Armidale was established in 1992. It is part of a worldwide movement which was founded in France in 1972. The first Australian U3A was formed in Melbourne in 1984. There are now about 300 U3As in Australia, with about 100,000 members.

University of the Third Age Armidale Inc. is an Association incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW) through the NSW Department of Fair Trading, and is a Registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

Constitution.
U3AA has an annual membership of about 400 people, primarily retired, representing all walks of life and who wish to be involved in their community and to keep learning. Each year we offer about 50 courses and activities providing a wide range of opportunities for ongoing learning, intellectual stimulation, social interaction and physical activity. Courses are presented in an informal manner, there are no prerequisites, no exams and no qualifications awarded. Membership of U3AA entitle you to attend as many courses as you wish. Over 80 members volunteer their services including the management committee, technology management, course coordination, course leadership, office administration, building and garden maintenance.
